ALTEC 511B DRIVER

Does any body have any experience with this horn. Posted March 14, But a blob on a lip kills it quickly. It had a very seductive, big, warm sound. Is it worth the money to spend on the Altec B horn ,and new GPA drivers, when you can get newly developed and well regarded high fidelity tweeters around for about the same money, and less size. It's big, so it affords me a great space to fill with sound. I wouldn't fret over it.

This included fitting the new compression drivers which came with gaskets fitted and mounting bolts. I applu several coats for the best effect.

The vanes are needed, they do something very good for the sound. I have 2 pairs of 's and 1 ofand someone wltec circling the 's pretty bad. I cant tell much difference from the K in response with the benifit of a 2way Scala. I guess one can tweak endlessly, but if I were going to stay with the KV driver, I'd recommend Trachorns. I'm most likely going to get a pair of the drivers in the not so distant future, but which ones? As A,tec drivers are becoming scarce, what current JBL drivers would you recommend for this horn?

Ran up the SPL's and I thought mine were clacking, but it turned out to be things falling from the walls! Takes a little research but less than you'd think.
