I googled the error and looks like a lot of different HP laptops having exactly the same problem. I messed one thig up: I cannot see anything holding it but something around the trackpad area appears to be the culprit.

When booting, I hear some spinning of fan or drive or both, but get an immediate blank white screen. I am unsure of how to release the old ribbon and install the new one, specifically regarding the connectors. Those connectors do not have locks.

I needed to see where the cords labeled 1 and 2 went and searched the net for pictures like yours. I used your instructions.
